Are you in need of a website that showcases your work? Then you’ll want to check out this custom Squarespace website that we created for a Colorado copywriter.

In this blog post, we’ll cover why it pays off to invest in having a Squarespace website built from scratch with a designer and talk about the process we went through with our client, Shelby Palmeri, with this website design.

So don your creative hat, pour yourself something cold and frothy (or caffeinated), and let’s dive into how we created this custom Squarespace website design.

Saying Goodbye to Cookie Cutter Design

An ipad has a copywriter website pulled up.

Shelby Palmeri (she/her) was determined to break away from the cookie-cutter templates and give her website a unique personality. As a Colorado-based copywriter and content strategist, she called upon our team, who blew away all her expectations with a full site redesign!

She invested in a custom Squarespace website design, and her dreams came true! We crafted four web pages plus an interactive blog based on the branding that she created. The website was also infused with all of those character-filled elements we saw on her social media graphics.

Over the course of two weeks, her new website was ready to launch.

When asked about how she felt about her website after working with us, Shelby said:

“I LOVE IT! The biggest compliment I received was, “this is so you!!” And I heard it repeatedly. I adore my website and am incredibly proud of its presence now!”

A Copywriter Website Built to Stand Out

A Squarespace website is pulled up on a phone next to a mug and a laptop.

Shelby approached us with a website that she didn’t love – built on Squarespace, the ability to customize it without a few lines of code seemed almost impossible. But we knew together we could make something truly outstanding and bring her branding alive!

We asked Shelby at the time how she felt about her website, and she said, “I felt that it was lacking and not a full representation of my business.”

So, we set to work on building out a strategy that could make her website stand out amongst the others.

Here’s a look at the strategy solutions we came up with:

  • Marigold for action: Shelby’s had a golden yellow color in her branding that stood out amongst the other colors in her palette. So, we used it throughout the site to inspire action from visitors because it easily drew a visitor’s eye.
  • Fun doodles: So that her website wouldn’t be just another floating in the digital sea, we gave it some personality with waves, borders, and textured paper to make it stand out from the crowd.
  • Clear user journey: We made it super easy for website visitors to navigate Shelby’s website so that her funnels could be put to use.

Of course, we asked Shelby about what she thought about the website process with us, too. Here’s what she had to say:

“Let’s see…just about every single point. The amount of communication, the thorough Loom videos, and the active engagement really showed me your passion for helping your clients. It was inspiring to experience your process, and I never felt worried or wondering what was going on.”

Custom Coding on Squarespace

An ipad sits on a white book.

To make Shelby’s website super unique, we started from the blank Brine template on Squarespace and went through to fully customize it. We coded in custom borders, designed custom sections, and swapped colors, fonts, and more where needed to give it a truly unique feeling.

Working with a website designer to build your own website can be a daunting task, especially if you have little to no experience in coding. Luckily, there are website designers (like us) out there who are experts in adding CSS to custom Squarespace websites.

What does this mean for you and our client, Shelby? It means that you can have all the benefits of a customized website without the frustration of learning how to code.

Imagine having a website that looks and feels exactly how you want it to, without the hassle of figuring out how to make it happen. Working with a skilled designer who knows how to add CSS can make all the difference in bringing your vision to life, and it’s an investment that will pay off tenfold in the long run.

The Final Result: A Stand-Out Custom Squarespace Website Design

A phone sits next to a pencil, a journal, and a mug.

The final website design on Squarespace is one that is built for Shelby to grow with as her business evolves in the coming years. We provided her with custom-made tutorials so that she is able to keep the site updated, add new pages, and even update the code if she needs. Plus, we are always just an email away!

Here’s what Shelby had to say upon receiving the final website design:

“Inkpot Creative did a great job of nailing the vision I had for my website. They made the process easy and enjoyable and created a beautiful website that I’m proud to show off. I highly recommend Inkpot Creative if you’re looking to up the professionalism of your online presence.”
