Welcome to a special milestone on the Unexpected Entrepreneur podcast! In our celebratory 100th episode, we dive into some of our most memorable moments, unique organizational strategies, and the lessons we’ve learned from balancing business with travel.
Staying Organized in Business
One of the most popular questions we receive is about organization. There are a few tools that we love to use in our business. For client projects we love using tools like Notion and Google Drive. These help us keep all of the project tasks in one place and organized.
For our personal organization, we use tools like ClickUp, Google Docs, planners, and even whiteboards to keep all of our weekly and daily tasks organized and on track.
We also bounce around a lot to make sure we are being as productive as possible so this sometimes means swapping out our methods to be whatever is going to keep us motivated.
Favorite Travel Destinations
While we have been to so many amazing places, a few of our top picks are:
- Vienna, Austria
- Porto, Portugal
- Calgary, Canada
- Barcelona, Spain
- Dublin, Ireland
Proudest Moments in Business
For KP, her proudest moments come from starting to be recognized as the go-do design studio for photographers. For Jessie, it was the validation of working with blogging clients and having them see tangible results from the posts.
Overcoming Challenges
Every business faces challenges, and ours was no different. Shortly after Jessie quit her job, we had a very slow summer which was a nerve wrecking way to start this journey for KP. But, instead of just giving up, we worked to find other things to push during the summer that more closely aligned with what people were looking for during this time.
For Jessie, she faced a steep learning curve after quitting her corporate job. But, it just taught her that everything is learnable and if you are willing to put in the time to educate yourself, find courses, and do research, you can become an expert in the field.
Staying Inspired
Inspiration often comes from the most unexpected places. For us, it’s our clients and our travels. Hearing our clients’ stories and seeing their passion reignites our own. Traveling, whether it’s a local hike or an international adventure, provides a fresh perspective and new ideas.
Balancing Business and Travel
Balancing work and travel is no easy feat, but with organization and a bit of flexibility, it’s possible. We find that setting hard stops and rewarding ourselves with exploration keeps us productive. It’s also essential to take breaks and fully disconnect to recharge and come back with renewed energy.
Dream Destinations
Looking ahead, Japan, Australia, Iceland, and South Korea are at the top of our travel bucket list. These destinations promise new adventures and endless inspiration, and we can’t wait to explore them.
