Your bookkeeper website design is often the first impression a potential client has of you. Your website design is what should be setting you apart from your competitors and not look exactly like everyone else’s website.

This guide shares with you strategies to implement in your bookkeeping website design and provides bookkeeping website examples from past clients we’ve worked with.

Why Does Your Bookkeeping Business Need a Website?

Your website does a lot for your business without you having to always do all of the heavy lifting. Your business needs a website to:

  • Build credibility and trust before potential clients reach out.
  • Attract new clients through Google instead of relying only on past client referrals.
  • Have a place to show off your expertise, services, and personality.
  • Help answer common questions and make it easier for potential clients to inquire!

What Should a Bookkeeper Website Include?

A clear, engaging homepage

Explain who you help, what you do, and what makes you different. Be sure to include clear calls to action throughout the page.

In-depth service pages

Explain your bookkeeping services and who they’re for. Make sure to highlight benefits of your offers too, instead of just listing what’s included.

An About page that builds trust

Share your story, what makes you qualified, and your personality (personality is a big reason why someone might work with you!). The goal of your About page is to help potential clients connect with the person behind the business.

Testimonials and social proof

Feature client reviews, credentials, and relevant experience when you can. To make it easy, have one designed block for reviews that you can use throughout the website. Don’t skip over having testimonials on your website!

A contact page and FAQs

From the moment a user lands on your website, their experience should be seamless from start to finish. Nothing about who you are, your prices, what you do, or how to contact you should be difficult to find. Make it easy to inquire or schedule a consultation with you. Address common questions about pricing, onboarding, and working together, and always link your contact page in the top right corner! (People always expect it to be here.)

A blog to show expertise

A blog is a great place to share resources and helpful tips to build trust. It can also be dual-purpose, used in your client experience to answer questions. A blog is also a great asset for helping leads find you through search engines.

What Makes a Bookkeeper Website Successful?

The answer? SEO, aka Search Engine Optimization.

SEO is optimizing your website so that you appear in relevant Google search results – especially local search (if relevant). It doesn’t matter if you have a beautiful website if no one is finding it. SEO is what helps you get found!

Your website also needs to have mobile responsiveness, easy navigation (pls don’t clutter your nav bar either), and an easy-to-follow strategic design.

Why You Need a Custom Brand for Your Bookkeeping Website

Your brand dictates how your website is designed! It should always come before website design. We want you to challenge the idea that financial businesses need traditional, corporate-looking branding (we’re all about fun brands here). Think: custom colors, typography, logos, and other visual elements establish a recognizable identity!

Your website should reflect your personality and ideal clients, not look like every other bookkeeping website. A cohesive brand and website is what builds credibility and helps attract better-fit clients!

Bookkeeper Website Design Example for the Aisle Advisory

About the client

The Aisle Advisory (founded by Braden Drake) is the new go-to legal, tax, and bookkeeping partner built exclusively for wedding pros who are leveling up and want real support without the stiff, scary vibes.

It’s fun, friendly guidance paired with seriously smart strategy, so six-figure (or aspiring six-figure) wedding planners, photographers, florists, DJs, venue owners, and more can finally feel on top of their business backend.

What we did

We designed the brand and website! The goal with the website was to create something not boring, by thinking about WHO Braden’s audience is – what would they be attracted to? We built this website on Squarespace, and implemented moving animations like scrolling marquees and active highlight features to keep visitors engaged. We wanted to create something that would stand out amongst other businesses who might be offering the same thing.

The result

The finished website is a great mix of professionalism, personality, and functionality – it really helps too that Braden got some custom brand photos done which brought the whole thing together, using his new brand colors!
